Modelo ACS 100 Sora, usado nas pesquisas, será adaptado para receber a nova tecnologia.
Em parceria com a ACS Solutions, a Itaipu Binacional pesquisa novas tecnologias capazes de dar mais autonomia de voo aos aviões. Reduzir o peso e aumentar a potência da bateria utilizada são os maiores desafios desse projeto.
As pesquisas colocam o Brasil em posição de destaque no cenário internacional, segundo o coordenador brasileiro do programa de veículos elétricos da Itaipu Binacional, Celso Novaes.
"Um dos fatores limitadores para os veículos elétricos é a autonomia. No mundo inteiro, as baterias estão no limite. Buscamos ter mais energia na mesma bateria e reduzir o peso. A indústria mais sensível nesse sentido é a indústria aeronáutica", afirma.
O modelo utilizado nas pesquisas, o ACS 100 Sora, que utiliza um motor a combustão, está sendo adaptado para receber a nova tecnologia.
Segundo Novaes, os primeiros voos de teste serão realizados em julho do próximo ano. Após as empresas conseguirem as certificações necessárias, a meta é comercializar o modelo.
"A ideia é que o avião seja produzido em escala industrial. O fator que vai viabilizar isso é o custo final do projeto. Queremos ser um exportador dessa tecnologia, a 'Embraer' dos motores elétricos", diz.
